Assisted Living in Mexico

I want to help you take a look at what to expect as far as healthcare is concerned here in Mexico and specifically the greater Puerto Vallarta area as that is where IGSA Senior Care community will be located. The first thing you need to know is that healthcare here is top notch. There are 3 major hospital groups in the area and 5 large hospitals. There are also many medical plazas where specialist doctors have offices. Doctors and Nurses in Mexico undergo the same rigorous education that American doctors undertake. One added element to the education system in Mexico is that university can be a paid college or free. To get free college the student must agree to volunteer in their chosen profession under a state mandated position for 1 year immediately following the completion of their degree. This means that most medical professionals in Mexico have not only received their degree, but also experienced on the job training for the year following. These state ran volunteer positions are operated by trained professionals in that field so doctors are getting real on the job training  even after meeting their residency requirements. The crazy part is that even with all this training, doctors do not get paid high salaries at all. So doctor visits are very affordable to see a general physician. Specialists are a bit more as they have to do extra schooling and it is very expensive schooling. They are still verey affordable and a typical appointment with a specialist will cost about $30usd. It seems too good to be true, but it isn’t. You get a much higher level of service from doctors here and at a much lower price. This is why we at IGSA Senior Care are able to hire nurses as caregivers. We are providing them with a very good paying job and security in their employment. This means that nurse turnover rates are very low and you will be working with the same people for years to come.

Major treatments and operations are a fraction of the cost here in Puerto Vallarta compared to the USA. A triple bypass would cost you around $50,000 usd in the states while here at a worldclass hospital like San Javier Hospital you could be spending as little as $15,000 usd. Their head cardiologist is a graduate of the University of Chicago and has over a decade of experience. Most all procedures are priced like this, meaning you save huge. Another advantage is that the San Javier Hospital has a department that will call and negotiate with your US based insurance to pay for the procedure. For the insurance company it is a big win because of the huge cost savings and they always say yes. So if you have US based insurance, living in Mexico is no problem. If you don’t have health insurance and need a new plan then don’t worry. We have a partnership with Met Life and they have some amazing insurance programs for residents at our IGSA Senior Care Community in Nuevo Vallarta.

Dental care should also get a mention here. Dentists are amazing here and there are so many to choose from. A teeth cleaning with a new ultrasonic cleaner will only cost you $30USD. Major dental procedures are very affordable also. Dental care is so low cost here that hardly anyone has dental insurance because they can always pay it out of pocket. They are master dentists here too. Any procedure you could need is available.

Then to top all this off you will have nurses as caregivers and a doctor on site to handle any care issues at IGSA Senior Care. If you are independent and don’t need care then that is great. You will have these medical professionals around if you ever do need anything or have any questions. For those of you that need some assistance then you are covered. There really is no level of care that we can’t handle with these amazing nurses. The doctor is always around if you really have an issue and that saves you the trip to a clinic or hospital in most cases. If things get a bit worse then the San Javier Hospital in Nuevo Vallarta is about a 5 minute drive away. Then for those residents that need memory care we have you covered too. You won’t find anywhere in the states that has nurses who are trained to deal with the stresses of dementia and alzheimer’s. All your healthcare needs are met at our beautiful senior care community in paradise.
